Edes House Wedding Photography: Grace & Myles’ Beautiful South Downs Celebration
Some wedding days feel effortlessly magical from start to finish — the kind where everything aligns: the atmosphere, the people, the landscape, the light.
Grace & Myles’ wedding, beginning at Edes House and ending at the beautiful White Horse, was one of those days.
From the rolling South Downs surrounding their reception venue to the hidden corners of Bishop’s Palace Gardens, this was a celebration filled with laughter, elegance and genuine joy.
A Calm, Beautiful Morning at The White Horse
The day began at The White Horse, tucked just below the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty around Kingley Vale.
It’s one of those locations where you can feel the countryside embracing you — quiet, peaceful, scenic, and full of character.
Grace spent the morning there getting ready, surrounded by friends, warmth and the gentle excitement that builds as a wedding day unfolds.
Her makeup artist — a brilliant local specialist — worked calmly and beautifully, and it was clear how much she cared about her craft.
Inside the restaurant, the florals were stunning.
Jane Walker’s arrangements transformed the room — colourful, textured, elegant. Flowers have an incredible way of shifting a space, and here they did exactly that.
After capturing details and the energy of the morning, I left Grace with her bridal party and headed into Chichester to find Myles.

Meeting Myles in Chichester
I met Myles and his best men in a local pub — pool cues in hand, jokes flying, nerves easing. It was relaxed, warm and full of camaraderie. You could immediately see the affection and loyalty in his friendships.
It’s these small, unplanned pockets of time that often reveal the most about the people at the heart of a wedding.
A Beautiful Ceremony in the Top Room at Edes House
Some couples hesitate at the idea of a registry office, but Edes House is nothing like the stereotypes.
It’s elegant, historic, beautifully lit and full of character.
The top room, where Grace & Myles exchanged vows, feels intimate and grand all at once.
The ceremony was heartfelt and sincere — full of smiles, meaningful glances and the kind of quiet emotion that makes these small rooms feel powerful.
Immediately after, we stepped out into the sunshine and made the short walk to one of Chichester’s best hidden gems.
Portraits in Bishop’s Palace Gardens
Bishop’s Palace Gardens is one of the most magical spots in Chichester.
Even on a busy day, you can always find quiet corners, soft light and pockets of greenery that feel completely secluded.
We wandered through garden paths, archways and tree‑lined walkways — creating a relaxed, natural portrait session that never felt forced.
Walk, talk, laugh, breathe.
That’s all it takes to capture everything we need.

Off to The White Horse for the Reception
Back at The White Horse, the reception setup was perfect:
-
a large lawn for games or a marquee
-
a bright patio area for drinks and sunshine
-
and the brilliant converted cocktail van which would later become the heart of the evening
This venue is one of those gems that feels both polished and completely relaxed — ideal for couples who want a countryside celebration without losing character.
Dinner was incredible, prepared in‑house, full of flavour and enjoyed among laughter and flowing conversation.
Evening Light, Drinks & A Quiet Moment Together
As the evening unfolded, games were played, cocktails were poured and the energy grew warmer and more joyful.
At the perfect moment, I stole Myles and Grace away for a short walk.
In the midst of the party, this quiet moment — just the two of them — became one of the highlights of the entire day.
Weddings move fast.
You’re surrounded by everyone you love.
But sometimes, the first time you breathe together is when we slip away for portraits.
For Grace and Myles, this was exactly that moment.
