Selsey Wedding Photography: Laurence & Freya’s Sun‑Soaked Seaside Celebration

Some wedding days feel like a perfect reflection of the couple — warm, bright, joyful, and full of unexpected little moments that become the stories everyone remembers.
Laurence & Freya’s seaside wedding in Selsey was exactly that.

I first met them during their engagement session at Chichester Yacht Club — with boats drifting behind them, soft water light, and that relaxed energy they both naturally radiate. So when their wedding day arrived, I already knew it was going to be something special.

A Bright, Joyful Morning at the Family Home

The morning began at Freya’s parents’ house — a home her dad actually built himself, filled with character, family history and the kind of personal touches you only find in a home made with love.

It was the perfect setting for a warm, bohemian‑feeling wedding.
Inside, the atmosphere was:

  • relaxed

  • buzzing with excitement

  • full of close friends

  • beautifully chaotic in the best way

Both mums were whizzing around organising flowers and last‑minute details for the evening celebrations back at the house, adding to the sense of community and family effort that defined the entire day.

Freya looked radiant — calm, smiling, surrounded by friends who clearly adored her. It was the kind of morning where everyone is in sync, and everything feels exactly as it should.

A Classic Car… and a Classic Wedding‑Day Challenge

Freya was due to travel to the church in a family friend’s gorgeous old classic car.

Only problem?

It overheated.
Radiator fault. Steam. Panic (the fun kind).
A true wedding‑day plot twist.

But — as weddings often prove — people come together.
A local mechanic appeared like a hero, fixed the issue, and within minutes Freya was back en route.
Crisis averted.
Story gained.

These are the moments couples laugh about forever.

A Warm, Meaningful Ceremony at St Peter’s Church

We arrived safely at St Peter’s Church in Selsey, where Laurence was greeting guests with that excited energy only a groom can have — upbeat, slightly nervous, totally ready.

The ceremony itself was beautiful:

  • traditional

  • intimate

  • full of hymns

  • full of smiles

  • full of emotion

It felt like a truly local, community‑rooted wedding — the kind that reflects the heart of a seaside town.

And then came the confetti.
Selsey is famous for its wind… which turned out to be the best possible ally.
Petals everywhere — swirling, dancing, wrapping the couple in colour and laughter.
One of those perfectly imperfect moments I always adore.

Convertible Magic & Newly‑Married Glow

After the ceremony, I hopped back in the car — this time with both newlyweds.

The top was down.
The sun was out.
The light was perfect.

Golden tones poured into the car as they held hands, laughed, and took in the fact that they were really married now.

These little in‑between journeys are pure magic to photograph — raw, honest, unfiltered moments between two people who’ve just made the biggest promise of their lives.

A Garden Reception Full of Colour, Music & Community

Back at the house, guests were welcomed by a beautiful duet from a local pianist and violinist — soft, elegant music drifting through the garden and setting the perfect tone.

Meanwhile, the star of the evening…
Laurence.
At the BBQ.
Cooking racks of ribs.

Yes — the groom cooked dinner.
And it was incredible.

There was something wonderfully intimate about it: the groom serving food to the people he loves most.
It fit the whole day perfectly — warm, relaxed, personal.

The table setup out back was gorgeous, with lighting that would later glow beautifully into the evening.
Friends mingled, children played, families embraced — the kind of garden wedding where you can feel the heart in every corner.

Speeches, Dancing & A Perfect Summer Evening

After an amazing meal at The Seal (a place that far exceeds what the word “pub” suggests), everyone returned to the house for the evening celebrations.

The speeches were brilliant — especially the hilarious best man speech, clearly crafted by someone who knows Laurence inside out.
Plenty of laughter.
Plenty of love.

Then came dancing, warm summer air, and that wonderful hum of joy that fills late‑evening celebrations.

Golden Hour Portraits on the Beach

As the sunlight began to dip, the three of us wandered to the local beachfront — a place where Laurence & Freya had spent many hours together over the years.

Warm, dreamy evening light rolled across the water.
Soft waves.
Gently coloured sky.
A quiet moment away from the noise.

These portraits were some of my favourites: natural, effortless, full of connection and the calm after a beautiful, full day.

A Stunning Summer Wedding With Two Beautiful Souls

Laurence & Freya’s wedding day had everything that matters:

  • family

  • laughter

  • music

  • challenges overcome

  • community stepping in

  • beautiful light

  • heartfelt ceremony

  • food cooked with love

  • a warm summer night

  • and two people who are absolutely perfect for each other

A day I’ll remember fondly — and one that felt like the true definition of a relaxed, meaningful, seaside celebration.
